How to Sync EPHEMERAL Calendar
Welcome to EPHEMERAL. Because you have been added to our subscriber group, you automatically have access to the calendar. However, depending on your device and the email you used to purchase, you may need to take a few extra steps to make it visible.
Please find your scenario below and follow the instructions to sync.
1. IMPORTANT: Did you pay with a Non-Google Email?
(Read this if you used Yahoo, Outlook, Hotmail, or a custom work email)
If you used a non-Google email for your purchase, you must link that email to a Google Account to view the calendar. You do not need to create a new @gmail.com address.
Step A: Register your current email as a Google Account
- Go to accounts.google.com/signup.
- Enter your First and Last name.
- Under the “Username” field, click the blue link that says “Use my current email address instead”.
- Enter the email you used for your purchase (e.g., jane@yahoo.com).
- Follow the prompts to verify your email address.
Step B: Accept the Invitation
- Once your account is set up, go back to your email inbox.
- Find the “Welcome to EPHEMERAL” email.
- Click the “Add to Calendar” link.
- It will open Google Calendar; click Add to confirm.
Step C: Sync to iPhone (Crucial Step)
Even if you already have your Yahoo/Outlook email on your iPhone, the calendar will not appear until you add it specifically as a Google account.
- Go to iPhone Settings > Calendar > Accounts.
- Tap Add Account.
- Select Google (Do not select Yahoo or Outlook).
- Sign in using your non-Google email (e.g., jane@yahoo.com) and the password you created in Step A.
- Ensure the “Calendars” toggle is ON.
- Open your Calendar app; EPHEMERAL should now appear.
2. Google Calendar Users (Browser & Android)
Most users will see the calendar automatically.
- Check your Email: Look for the “Welcome to EPHEMERAL” email.
- Click the Link: Click the “Add to Calendar” link provided in that email.
- Confirm: A browser window will open asking, “Do you want to add this calendar?” Click Add.
- Verify: The calendar “EPHEMERAL” will now appear in your list under “Other Calendars” or “Shared Calendars”.
3. Apple Calendar Users (iPhone, iPad & Mac)
If you use the native Apple Calendar app with a standard Gmail account, the shared calendar is often hidden by default. Follow these steps to unhide it.
Step A: Enable the Sync (The “Magic Link”)
- Open Safari or Chrome on your device.
- Go to this Google settings page: calendar.google.com/calendar/syncselect.
- Log in with your Gmail account if prompted.
- Under “Shared Calendars,” find EPHEMERAL and check the box next to it.
- Click Save (bottom right).
Step B: Refresh the App
- Open the Calendar app on your iPhone/Mac.
- Tap Calendars (bottom center).
- Pull down on the list to refresh.
- Crucial Step: If you see “EPHEMERAL” but events aren’t showing, uncheck the box next to it, wait a second, and check it again. This forces the data to download.
4. Microsoft Outlook
The method depends on whether you use the Outlook Mobile App or Outlook Desktop.
Option A: Outlook Mobile App (iOS/Android)
- Open the Outlook app.
- Tap your profile icon (top left) and tap Settings (gear icon).
- Tap on your Gmail account.
- Toggle the switch for Sync Calendars to ON.
- EPHEMERAL should appear in your calendar view. If not, tap the Calendar icon, tap the menu (top left), and ensure the checkbox next to EPHEMERAL is selected.
Option B: Outlook Desktop (Windows/Mac) Note: Outlook Desktop does not always sync Google “Shared Calendars” automatically.
- Go to Google Calendar on your computer (Web).
- Find EPHEMERAL in the left sidebar.
- Hover over it, click the three dots > Settings and sharing.
- Scroll down to the “Secret address in iCal format”.
- Copy that URL.
- Open Outlook Desktop.
- Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
- Click the Internet Calendars tab > New.
- Paste the URL you copied and click Add.
Troubleshooting
“I still don’t see the calendar.”
- Wait 5 Minutes: Sometimes Google takes a moment to propagate your permissions after purchase.
- Check “Trash” or “Spam”: Ensure the invitation email didn’t get lost.
- Desktop First: It is often easier to accept the calendar invite on a desktop computer first, then set it up on mobile.
